FAREWELL AFTERNOON

PRESENTATIONS MADE The Tauhei Hall was charmingly decorated recently with sweet peas, geraniums and hydrangeas, the occasion being a farewell gathering in honour of Miss Alison Grow, who is leaving Tauhei shortly to take up nursing. Games were enjoyed throughout the afternoon and a competition arranged by Mrs Worthington was won by Miss M. Edwards. The following items were much appreciated: Elocutionary item, Miss A. Grow; pianoforte solo, Miss A. Gee; vocal duet, Misses Tui Harris and Jean Dalgety; and solo, Miss Ruth Crow. A bouquet from the Sunday school scholars was presented to Miss Crow by Miss Tui Harris and she also received a bouquet from members of the Women’s Division presented by Miss Joy Worthington. Mr J. Noble spoke of the excellent work Miss Crow had done in connection with the Sunday school, and Mr A. M. Woods, Sunday school superintendent, on behalf of Sunday school staff, scholars and other friends, presented Miss Crow with a book. Mrs Freegard, president of the Tauhei branch of the Women’s Division, gratefully acknowledged Miss Crowds good work and presented her with a Chinese brass bowl. Miss Crow suitably responded. The serving of a delicious afternoon tea concluded a pleasant afternoon.
