TO-DAY’S BRIDE

NIXON—GRIFFITH MAGNOLIA EMBOSSED GOWN ’MAIDS IN DELPHINIUM BLUE St. Peter's Cathedral, Hamilton, was artistically arranged by friends of the bride, with masses of blue hydrangeas, for the marriage this afternoon ot Mavis Jessie, second daughter of Mr and Mrs J. M. Griffiths, of Nixon Street, Hamilton, and Stanley George, elder son of Mr and Mrs G. Nixon, of Eureka. The Rev. P. C. S. Sergei was the officiating minister and Mr E. H. Apthorp presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a lovely slim-fitting frock of French faille embossed in satin in a large spot design, and fashioned with a pointed corselette bodice, horizontally tucked to form a soft draped effect below the heart-shaped neckline. The long, tight-fitting sleeves came to a point over the hand and were ruched at the top to give the high shoulder line. Tiny satin buttons trimmed the centre front of the bodice and defined the hipline, from where the fully flared skirt swept in graceful folds to form a long circular train banded in satin on which were appliqued flowers of self material. Interest was given to the skirt by the concentration of the fullness in pleats at the centre back. Her embroidered tulle veil, which was held I in place by a white satin halo and I tiny sprigs of orange blossom, fell softly to form a second train. She carried a sheaf of tuber roses and maidenhair fern. The Bridesmaids Miss Dulcie Griffiths, sister of the bride, and Miss Gwyneth Powell, were in attendance as bridesmaids. They wore similar frocks of delphinium blue georgette, the gathered bodices being fashioned with low, round, corded necklines and tiny puffed sleeves, also finished with corded effect. Wide bias bands of georgette, fastened at the back with large buttons and loops, swathed the waists, and the skirts fell in full circular flares to form slight trains. They wore top-knots of delphiniums and carried shower bouquets of delphiniums and maidenhair fern. Mr Malcolm Nixon and Mr Leonard Nixon attended their brother as best man and groomsman respectively. The ushers at the church were Messrs Trevor Lorimer, Arthur Nixon and Clifford Powell. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Nixon Street Hall, which had been attractively dei corated with hydrangeas and greenery. Mrs Griffiths, to receive the : guests, wore a tobacco brown georg- | ette ensemble trimmed with faggotting and cire ribbon and a Boldinni beret with veil. Her posy was composed of summer flowers in golden shadings. The mother of the bridegroom was wearing a navy blue model frock and hat to match, and she carried a posy of scarlet Cowers. When Mr and Mrs S. G. Nixon left by car for the wedding trip, which i will be spent in touring the North and i South Islands, the bride travelled in j a mushroom soie frock relieved in I navy with a navy tailored coat, navy hat and accessories to tone. Their future home will be in Eureka. Following the reception a dance will be held this evening. I The invited guests were: —Mr and | Mrs J. Griffiths (Dunedin), Mr and ■ Mrs A. W.
