SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL
The monthly meeting and social of the Birmingham and English Counties’ Association was held in the Toorak Hall recently, the president, Mr T. Barnett, presiding over a good attendance of members and friends. The meeting opened with the National Anthem, after which the business was dealt with. An enjoyable social followed, supper being served by the hostesses, Mesdames T. Barnett, W. Fensom, W. Trenberth, J. Renolff, A. Fawcett and J. H. Morley. Mouth organ solos by Mr J. Kilburn were much appreciated. The competition prize-winners were Mr and Mrs C. Cockhead, Mr T. Barnett, Miss L. Wright and Mr H. Rodger. Among those present were:—Mesdames L. Edwards, D. I. Gate, W. Fensom, V. Edmonds, W. Trenberth, J. H. Morley, J. Drummond, J. Renolff, T. Barnett, C. Cockhead and A. Fawcett. Misses L. Smith, N. Renolff, K. Trenberth, P. Trenberth, J. Fawcett, M. Smith, G. and P. Gaylard, L. Wright. I MOCHA CUSTARDS f Required: *1 gill strong black ® coffee, 8 to 10 lumps sugar, & cream, i teaspoon vanilla es- <§ sence, £ pint milk, 2 eggs. ® Dissolve the sugar in the coffee. Stir in the boiling milk. S Beat egg yolks in a basin till ® frothy, then stir in the coffee milk by degrees, when off the ® boil. Add vanilla. Pour into lit- g tie buttered ramekins. Place in ® a baking tin containing water to jg a depth of 1 inch. Cover with ® a buttered paper. Bake in a slow Q oven till set.
