CHILLED BEEF EASIER BAC ONER PIGS UNCHAN GED (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Friday The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board's report on the Smithfield market covering the period ended February 9, states that on the lamb market downs are unchanged and others are slightly lower. Heavy Australian stocks are tending to depress the market. Wethers and ewes are showing improved demand but values are unchanged. In the chilled beef market with heavier Dominion arrivals prices are a shade easier. With New Zealand porker pigs the trade is slow and prices are-unchanged. New Zealand baconer pigs are unchanged but the tendency is easier owing to the weaker bacon market. Quotations: — New Zealand lambs, Canterbury and other South Island and North Island Downs are not quoted. North Island, first quality, 361 b and under, 7Jd; 371 b to 421 b, 7£d; second quality, average about 311 b, 7d. Australian: Victorian, first quality, 291tf to 361 b, 6 5-8 d; Argentine, first quality, 3'6lb and under, 6 i-8d; 37-421 b, 5 7-Bd. Chilled beef prices are the approximate average prices realised for the week. New Zealand, sid, 3£d; Australian, s£d, 3§d; South African not quoted. Argentine fores, 4 l-8d; Brazilian, s£d. Others are unchanged.
