Tel Copyright) (Received Feb. 10, 12.30 p.m.) BRUSSELS, Feb. 9 The Spaak Cabinet resigned as the result of the withdrawal of the Liberals’ support after the appointment of Doctor -Mertens. A demonstration, in which Dr. Paul Spaak, Prime Minister of Belgium, was hurt, followed the Government 6 appointment to the Royal Flemish Academy of Dr. Mertens, who was sentenced to death after the Great War for co-operation with Germans. There were scenes in Parliament over the appointment, after which the Government gained a vote of confidence by 88 votes to 80, with seven abstention*.
