Swimming Club for jts annual carnival at the Municipal Baths to-morrow evening has attracted entries from Morrinsville Paeroa. Matamata. Hamilton, as well as from the Y.M.C.A. Club itself. Favoured with fine weather, a large crowd of spectators should be attraeted to the display, and they are assured of some sterling contests amongst the best swimmers in the South Auckland Centre. Exceptionally fine entries have been received for the 50 yards open handicap, which has been separated into sevpn heats. Altogether there are 37 competitors in that event and the final should reveal a high standard of swimming. Always popular amongst the public are the relay events, and the dual swim this year has attracted excellent fields, three heats being necessary to ancnmmodatp the entrants. The Hamilton clubs are well represented in this contest, which should arouse enthusiasm. Chief amongst the items on the programme is the Waikato Banner Beiav, which will he swum for by the Morrinsville. Hamilton. Paeroa, Y.M.C.A. and Matamata clubs. With such fine representation it'should be difficult to separate the contestants and excitement should run high during the race. Three clubs will take part in the intermediate inter-club relay, which should also see some first-class competition. The men's dive he* brought forth some excellent talent from the Y.M.C.A and Matamata clubs, and. judging by the well-known artists competing, the judges will have a hard task to place the first three. It will he su**pjrisinp if Miss J. McDonald, of the Y.M.C.A. Club, who gained second place in the New Zealand intermediate diving contest at Rotorua. does not gain first place in the women’s dive.
