Messrs J. Sainsbury and J. Loughnin, of London, are visiting Hamilton. Messrs J. Hore and S. D. E. Weir, of Auckland, are in Hamilton on Supreme Court business. Mr F. A. de la Mare, of Hamilton, has returned from Christchurch where he attended a meeting of the Senate of the University of New Zealand. Mr S. N. Ziman, of Hamilton, has returned from attending the New Zealand University Senate meeting at Chrfstchurch. Rev. Father S. Farragher, of Cambridge, will leave Auckland by the Rimutaka to-morrow for London on his way to Ireland. According to a Gazette notice Messrs P. Kearns and H. M. Christie have been appointed members of the board of governors of Massey Agricultural College. Constable G. C. Stevens, who was an inmate of the Kaitaia Hospital following a motor accident, returned to Frankton recently, but will not resume duty for some time. The appointment of Mr J. A. Gilmour as stipendiary magistrate for purposes of section 4 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Act, 1937, was officially announced in the Gazette last night. Mr W. G. McClymont, a teacher at the Otago Boys’ High School, has been appointed to the National Council of Physical Welfare in place of Dr. C. E. Hercus, who is leaving for England. The following members of the Teachers’ Superannuation Board have been appointed, according to a notice in last night’s Gazette:—North Island: Messrs F. A. Garry and T. Kane; South Island, Messrs W. F. Abel and J. G. Poison. Messrs N. C. Armitage, E. W. Watson, F. Hore, N. D. Weir, M. B. Turner, N. Lepetit, C. Dennlstoun-Wood (Auckland), J. C. East (Christchurch), A. W. Moss (New Plymouth), E. H. Lawn, G. Underwood and F. C. Darnell (Wellington) are at the Hamilton HoteL Sergeant-Major W. Edmonds, of Ashburton, has retired on superannuation after 47 years’ service in the Army. Besides the Great War medals, he holds the Queen’s and King's South African medals, the Imperial long service and good conduct medal, and the New Zealand long and efficient service medals.
