POSTPONEMENT OF BENEFITS WILL TAXATION BE SUSPENDED? (By Telegraph.—Press Association) HASTINGS; Thursday The question of payment of taxation under the Social Security Act was before the Hastings branc-h of the Farmers’ Union when the following resolution was passed to be presented as a remit at the forthcoming executive meeting at Waipukurau: “Owing to the benefits under social security being suspended in accordance with the pronouncement recently made by the Minister is it the intention of the Government to suspend taxation necessary to meet the benefits?” Mr R. Talbot stated that although the benefits of social service had been postponed indefinitely there had been no promise of postponement of the taxation.
