ANOTHER CLASH

AT ARGUN RIVER JAPANESE REPULSED [ THREE RUSSIAN CASUALTIES (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Feb. 9. 3.15 p.m.) MOSCOW, Feb. 8 Ten Japanese were killed, one Russian killed and two Russians were wounded in a renewed Japanese attack on the Island of Argun River. The Japanese were repulsed after a machine-gun battle. Russia again has protested to Tokio. Seven Japanese were killed and wounded, and a Russian officer was wounded in a previous clash on the frontier of Manchukuo on January 31. A battle with machine-guns resulted from an unsuccessful attempt by the Japanese to occupy the island on the Argun River, near the mouth of the Guran tributary. Russia then entered a protest and a warning as to the probable consequences were aggression persisted in.
