Mr J. Blair, of Wellington, is at the Hamilton Hotel. Mr S. B. Sims, of Hamilton, is seriously ill in a private hospital in Hamilton. Mr W. C. Barry, director of the Live Stock Division, Department of Agriculture, is in Hamilton. Mr Bruce Levy, director of the grasslands division of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Palmerston North, was in Hamilton yesterday. A vote of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr T. Kempthorne was passed at a meeting of the Whatawhata School Jubilee committee on Tuesday night, members standing in silence. Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M., who has been on leave, resumed his duties in the Magistrate’s Court, Hamilton, today. Mr J. Morling, S.M., who presided over the Court during Mr Paterson’s absence, has returned to Auckland. Mr Bruce Palmer, a keen rifle shot, of Otorohanga, who is leaving the town to take up a position with the Royal New Zealand Air Force, was farewelled at a social evening by members of the Otorohanga Defence Rifle Club and was presented with a travelling rug and suit-case. Among the judges appointed for the Franklin Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s 54th annual show at Pukekohe next week were the following: Draught horses, Mr J. C. Begbie (Te Kowhai) ; Friesians, Mr E. H. Pipe (Walton); Ayrshires,. Mr W. C. Wallace (Cambridge); farm and garden produce, Mr J. Ballard (Claudelands ) ; boys and girls’ agricultural club classes. Messrs W. G. Peterson (Morrinsville) and F. O. Knight (Hamilton).
