EXCESSIVE RAIN
HAWKE’S BAY FARMS ADVERSE EFFECT ON FLOCKS (Special to Times) HASTINGS, Monday Threats of further Hooding in Hawke's Bay occasioned by heavy rain throughout last night and until this afternoon were dispelled when the downpour ceased. Rivers rose this afternoon as water from the back country came down, but no serious Hooding from this source occurred. Farm lands, however, received a severe drenching for the lYth time this year and surface waters cover extensive areas. Farmers express displeasure at the conditions. Usually at this time of the year, while it would cause certain holdups in farming, and perhaps a little damage, farmers would welcome such a fall of rain. This season, however, rain was not wanted, because of the abnormal amount of water that has pounded down on tue furm lands. Shearing has necessarily been held up. but more serious is the fact that shorn sheep, especially those more recently shorn, will suffer from the rain and the much colder conditions.
