PROBATION FOR THEFT
YOUTH'B FIRBT OFFENCE STOLE FROM FORMER EMPLOYER Appearing before Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M., In the Magistrate's Court. Hamilton, this morning on charges of theft at Te Kuiti on April 14, a Frankton youth, aged 18, was admitted to one' year's probation. Accused pleaded guilty to stealing a cash box, a Post Office Savings Bank book, a hammer and Is 6d in money of a total value of £1 6s 6d, the property of Alexander Boroughs, of Te Kuiti. Detective-Sergeant J. Thompson stated that the youth went to work for Boroughs, but stayed only three days, his employer bringing him back to Hamilton as useless. However he returned to Te Kuiti. went to Boroughs' home and. finding no one there, took a cash box which he broke open with a hammer. Accused later admitted the offence. He had not been before the court previously. Accused, whose' name was suppressed. was ordered 1o make restitution of Cl 6s 6d.
