SUCCESSFUL BALLS

FUNCTION AT WHITIKAHU ENJOYABLE EVENING A successful and enjoyable evening was held at Whitikahu recently on the occasion of a ball held in the new hall- There was a large attendance, many visitors being present. Excellent music was supplied byHume's Orchestra, of Pukekohe, extras being played by Mrs Bennett, and Miss Nessie Kerr. Mr F. Nicholson and Mr H. Walker were M's.C. Supper was served by members of the ajnusement committee. Noveltydances were won by Miss Duff (Hamilton', and Mr R. Jackson (Auckland), and by Mr and Mrs E. M. Rouse. KAIPAKI BACHELORS SEVENTH ANNUAL EVENT Punga ferns, greenery and softlyshaded coloured lights provided an effective background to the colourful scene at the seventh annual bachelors* ball, held in the Kaipaki Hall on Thursday. Always a successful function, the large attendance and the spirit of carnival which prevailed, was evidence of a further sucoessful and enjoyable dance, and reflected credit upon the bachelors, Messrs Roy Speake, Cyril Speake, Richard Sexton, Wilfrid Ganley and Keith Graham, under whose management the function was arranged. A large marquee was erected outside. From a dais on the stage, Clayton's Orchestra (Cambridge) played excellent dance music. Among tne guests were:—Mesdames A.
