TUBE RAILWAY COLLISION INQUEST ON THE VICTIMS MESSAGE NOT UNDERSTOOD (Received May 28, 12.5 p.m.) LONDON, May 27 The coroner told the jury at the inquest into the victims of the underground railway collision on May 17 that an inexperienced porter at the Temple station telephoned Charing Cross reporting that the signal wiring was at fault. Charing Cross was unable to understand what the porter meant. Eventually it realised the seriousness of the situation and rushed to atop the trains, but was a minute too late.
