The paper declares: "This is not so much a defence of the Duke of Windsor as an attack on Hi o House of Hanover from Hie reign of George 1. to the inception of the reign of George A'. It is an embarrassment to the present King and Queen, and a disservice to the Duke himself. "We knew the book was designed to crush the ease of the ex-King’s critics. Instalments arrived from Mr Mackenzie showing that it savagely attacked Mr Baldwin and challenged the Archbishop of Canterbury. it analysed the performances of a host of personalities, but with a section entitled ‘Heritage,’ the book became a criticism of the Duke's ancestors.”

It was announced last December that the Duke of Windsor had refused to supply any information for a biography which Mr Mackenzie planned to write.
