“VICTORIA REGINA.”
RECORD TOUR IN AMERICA NEW ZEALAND ACTOR’S LETTER Mr Harry Plimmer, actor, writing to his brother in Wellington, from Dallas, United States, on tour with Helen Hayes in "Victoria Regina,” states that this company is booked out ahead in every town that is scheduled on the overland tour. In Dallas’ three performances were given on Easter Monday. The company does not play in ordinary theatres—it plays In huge auditoriums, which are springing up all over the country. “These auditoriums,” writes Mr Plimmer, “are beautifully equipped with sound amplifiers, and are alrconiiitioned. From here we go on to Tulsa, Wichita, Denver, Salt Lake City, Boise, Seattle, Portland (Oregon), and three weeks’ seasons In San Francisco and Los Angeles will complete the most successful theatrical tour the world has ever known.” Mr Plimmer states that, unlike the play seen in New Zealand with Fay Compton, the play in which Helen Hayes appeared was supported by a large orchestra, and carried its own conductor. There were no “doubles,” ts Miss Hayes did not approve of an actor playing two parts in the one play.
