CHURCH OF CHRIST

ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Church of Christ, Claudelands, was held on Thursday evening, Pastor J. Salisbury presiding over a good attendance. The various reports revealed a very healthy condition in the Church and the financial statement showed a credit balance. Three Bible Classes were maintained and with the Students’ Class and Junior Christian Endeavour were working to very attractive syllabuses and with the winter club and gymnasium yielding fine results among the young people. The Sports Banner, competed for at the Easter camp, at Pukekohe, was won by the Hamilton Church. The Sunday school and primary departments were needing more accommodation and alterations and additions were proposed. The ladies’ guild reported a successful year, and had. by assisting in street collections, collected over £2O for charitable purposes. Appreciation was expressed that a missionary was labouring In Tel Aviv, Palestine, and being supported by the church and association. The appointment of officers for the year was as follows:—Deacons, Messrs F. Cooney, c. Knapp, \Y. Westwater, F. Phillips, A. Pearson. J. Ballard, T. Atkins. L. Blackwood; secretary. Mr A. Pearson; treasurer. Mr W. Westwater; auditor, Mr C. Knapp; Sunday school superintendent, Mr F. Phillips; organist. Mr W. Westwater; choir leader. Mr F. Cooney; Band of Hope president, Mr T. H. Pearson; book steward, Mr N. Polglase; manager winter club, Mr N. Polglase; gymnasium instructor, Mr H. Livingstone; Junior Christian Endeavour, Miss C. Salisbury; deaconesses, Mesdames Bulck, Knapp, Atkins and Bee; envelope secretary. Mr K. Robinson; representative on New Zealand Alliance, Pastor J. Salisbury; camp convener, Mr F. H. Pearson. It was decided to hold the annual rally day in June to commemorate the 56th anniversary of the church. The pastor expressed appreciation of the progress made' and the hearty co-operation of the members. At the close a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the pastor for’ his work, and Mrs Salisbury was the recipient of a cheque.
