TABLE TENNIS

HUNGARIAN CHAMPIONS VISIT TO HAMILTON By "Topspin”) Advice has been received from Wellington that the Hungarian tennis champions. Barn a and Beliak, will tour New Zealand this year. An offer has been made to the Hamilton Table Tennis Association for these internationallyknown players to give an exhibition here. Arrangements are well in hand and there is every likelihood of sportsmen in the Waikato seeing one of the world's finest athletes, G. V. Barna, in Born in Hungary In 1911, he is probably the world's greatest table tennis player, having won the world singles title no fewer than, five times (four successive years) and the doubles title seven times. He has held the championships of all the main countries of Europe and is the holder of 90 cups and GOO prizes. Barna is not only a great, player but has a fine personality, and in the preface to his book. “Hints to Amateurs,” the president of the English Table Tennis Association says: “And his charming manner to all, his keenness to help opponents, and tlie way in which lie upholds the social side of the game has made him welcome everywhere.” His partner on the New Zealand tour, Beliak, is well-known on the Continent and was ranked third in the world last year. Both he and Barna will probably visit Hamilton towards the end of July.
