FISHING DISPUTE
AMERICAN AND JAPANESE PLANS FOR PERSONAL WAR MEN AND AMMUNITION SENT United Press Assn.— Elec, i el. Copyright NEW YORK, May 26 The Alaska Fishermen's Union, responding to a request from American fishing boats in the Bering Sea, has sent men, rifles and ammunition for a possible personal war against the Japanese fishermen in Alaskan waters, says the Seattle correspondent of the United Press. The secretary of the union, Mr William Hicker, said: “We will not fool around any longer with this Japanese situation. The fishermen are angry and will take action to drive the Japanese out.” The New York Times’ Washington correspondent telegraphed to-night: “ With respect to the prospects of the use of force by American fishermen against the Japanese, it was said in some official quarters to-day that neither the United States nor Japan would have any control over such actions on the high seas.”
