Butler, who was asked in the House of Commons whether he was aware that the United States had protested to Berlin against the application io American citizens of decrees requiring them to register all their property in the German Reich exceeding 4000 marks, and whether he will make a similar protest on behalf of British citizens, replied "Yes” to the first part of the question, and said as regards ihe second part he was awaiting a reply from tlie German Government to inquiries addressed to it by the British Government on the subject.

If one falls 1000 will take his place. Germany must live, though we die ”
