OBITUARY
MR WILLIAM R. LEATHER (Special to Times.) HUNTLY, Wednesday The death has occurred of Mr William Robert Leather, aged 73. The late Mr Leather was born at Leigh, Lancashire, and went to America as a young man. Fifty-two years ago he came to New Zealand, landing at Auckland, where he married Miss Sarah Elizabeth Jones. Shortly afterwards the couple came to Huntly, where Mr Leather was associated in coal-mining activities for a number of years. He was also farming at Huntly West. Mr Leather, who was a justice of the peace, is survived by his widow, one son and seven daughters. They are: Mr T. Leather Huntly West , and Mesdames W. Hopkins. M. J. O’Brien Huntly . A. Macredie Huntly West 1 . J. Bennett Palmerston North . Millen Te Puke . C. Godden Papakura and Miss J. Leather Rotorua . There are 1 i grandchildren. The funeral took place at the Kinihia Cemetery to-day, the Rev. J. Churchill officiating.
