The enlrv comprised close „n 170 pigs, consisting of sows and boars of the Berkshire, barge black and Tamworth breeds. Bidding was generally slow and a lair proportion of the entry failed to reaeh the vendor's reserves. Tbo sale was n inducted by .Messrs. lUilgetv iiid Cmiipan:-. l-imib’d. with Mr A.'ll. Harding in the rustrum. The entries came forward in «'\- . .’llenf condition, and the bulk ul‘ the
sows had been mated to outstanding boars. Although in the sale-ring it was passed in at 33 guineas, the Large Black sow, Lucerndale’s Lavish, by Oto’s Black Prince, from Lucerndale's Bev, and mated to the recent English importation, Pakenham Whizbang 4th, was subsequently privately sold at 45 guineas to Messrs. H. D. Hall and Sons, of Otorohanga. At this price, Lucerndale’s Lavish was cheap buying for the Otorohanga breeders. Berkshire sows were sold from 8 !o 11 guineas, the buyer at the latter figure being Mr H. G. Barrett, of Cambridge. For Large Black sows, buyers paid from 8 to 134 guineas under the hammer. The latter figure was paid by Mr Barrett, while Mr H. Rudkin, of Paterangi, was a buyer at 12 guineas. Boars of the three breeds commanded little inquiry and the bulk of them were withdrawn from sale.
