FRANKTON RAILWAY STATION 1 COUNTY COUNCIL DISCUSSION “At present the state of affairs ii disgraceful and it is time that dccen facilities were provided," said Mr R. G. Young at the monthly meeting o: the Waikato County Council to-da: when the facilities at the Franktor Railway Station were under discussion The chairman, Mr J. A. Sampson, presided. The matter was introduced when fi letter was received from the Hamiltoc * Chamber of Commerce seeking the council’s support in the chamber's representations to the Minister oi Railways with regard to the station. The lack of suitable access and ol sufficient assistance for travellers with heavy luggage was mentioned by the chamber which stated that the Railway Department and the Public Works Department were spending large sums in various parts of New Zealand and the people in the Waikato were left without decent facilities. Several members deprecated the present state of affairs under which luggage had to be carried across overhead bridge, io the inconvenience of people who wished to use the railways. and it was decided to support the Chamber of Commerce in theli > efforts to secure improved condition*
