The best score was that of W. J. Edrich, who has already scored 115, 182 and 71 this season. lie compiled 245 in his latest innings. The other batsmen to do well were Hardstaff 105, Fagg 13 4. Chalk 167, Ilutton 107 and Ilopwood 74. There were also some fine bowling performances, Sims, seven for 55, Hammond five for 80, Clay six for 7 6 and six for 71 being those of most interest.
The details of the matches played are as follows: — Somerset v. Derby.—Somerset, first innings, 158 (G. Pope, five for 41), second innings 200 (Buse 104). Derby, first innings, 297. Second innings 64 for two wickets. Derby won by eight wickets.
Hampshire v. Glamorgan.—Hampshire, first inning-s 310 (Pothecary, 79; Clay six for 76); second innings, 253 (Clay six for 71). Glamorgan, first innings, 488 for 8 wickets declared (Dyson 149, Brierly 86). Second innings, 76 for 3 wickets. Glamorgan won by seven wickets.
Lancashire v. Northants. —Lancashire, first innings, 322 (Hopwood 74). Northants. first innings, 98 (Pollard six for 31); followed on 167. Lancashire won by an innings and 57 runs.
Warwick v. Leicester. —-Warwick, first innings, 112 (Flamson five for 33) ; second innings 395 for 8 wickets declared Croom 88, Dollery not out 127). Leicester, first innings, 349 Geary, not out 116); second innings, 160 for 6 wickets. Leicester won by four wickets.
Middlesex v. Notts. —Middlesex, first innings, 474 (Edrich 245, Human 71, Butler, six for 75). Notts, first innings. 291 (Hardstaff 105 . Followed on, 132 (Sims seven for 55). Middlesex won by an innings and 51 runs.
Kent v. Worcester. —Kent, first innings, 602 for 7 wickets declared (Fagg 134, Chalk IG7, Valentine 100).
Worcester, first innings. 308 .Martin 80, Gibbons, not out 80). Followed on, 101 for 2 wickets. Kent won on the first innings.
Sussex v. Yorkshire. —Sussex, first innings, 260 (Bartlett 94, Bowes six for 39). Second innings. 115 for 3 wickets. Yorkshire, first innings. 401 ’Sutcliffe 78, Hutton 107, Leyland 69; Hammond five for 86). Yorkshire won on the first innings.
