MANY PHEASANTS SEEN
INCREABE IN NUMBERB SPORT AROUND HAMILTON Most encouraging reports have been received by the Hamilton Acclimatisation Club from sportsmen in the Hamilton district concerning the marked increase in pheasant this season. Many sportsmen had been pessimistic about the prospects of the birds further establishing themselves, but an official of the club stated to-day that considerably more are being seen than in past seasons. It is true that the birds arc more wary this year, hut there is no doubt that the liberations have been well augmented by natural increase. A welcome result has been that pheasant are ibis season to he found within easy cycling distance of Hamilton. notably on the Horsham Downs Road, along the Cambridge Road, it Hinton’s Gully and along the Narrows Road. Duck shooters have had litlle encouragement during the past week, and expect, little sport while the present wqather lasts.
