WAIKATO MEETING JOLLY BCQOAR TRIUMPHS WINDSOR LAD S BIG STEEPLES The suceete of the veteran jumper, Jolly Beggar. in the Hamilton Hurdles, and the achievement of Windsor Lad In the big steeplechase were features of the OOCORd ami concluding day of the Waikato Racing Club's winter fathering at Te Rapa yesterday, when fine weather conditions attracted a large attendance for an off day. Hunting Blood and Du Maurier won again just as attractively as on opening day and both were at short odds in the betting, the former paying well Inside evens. Maori Song sprang a mild surprise in the sprint event to return double figures, while the success of Day Wind In the open mile netted his supporters slightly less on the win machine. The going was in first-class winter order and excellent racing was witnessed throughout. TOTALISATOR INCREASE REOORD WINTER TURNOVER MACHINES HANDLE £76,156 £10,454 INCREASE ON LAST YEAR The machines yesterday handled £29.544 10s, as against £29,438 on the second day last year, an increase of £lO6 10s on the day. In view of the fact that the machines were well down on the first six races—£l2lo 10a on last season's corresponding figure, the club did well to make up leeway on the last two.
