Henkel vanquishing him in straight sets with the loss of only one game of the J 9 played. In the doubles Germany eliminated Norway, Metaxa and Henkel defeating Haanes and Jenssen, 6—l, 6—2, 6—3. Copyright) LONDON, May 21 In the Davis Cup contest between Britain and Yugoslavia at Zagreb Mitic (Yugoslavia) beat Butler (Britain) 6—3? 6—l, 6—4; Punec (Yugoslavia) was leading Shaves '’Britain) 6—4, 4—6, 6—2, 3—2 when bad light stopped play. At Marseilles Petra (France) beat Nogues (Monaco) 6—l, 6—l, 6—o, and Destremeau (France) beat Mede’cin (Monaoo) 6—3, 6—o, 6—l. At Stockholm Schroder (Sweden) beat Fischer (Switzerland) B—6,8 —6, 6—2, 6—o; Maneff (Switzerland) beat Rholson (Sweden) 6—i, 6—4, 2—6, 6—l. In the double's Schroder and Rholson -beat Fischer and Maneff, 6 —2, 5—7, 6—4, 7—5.
PLAY IN ENGLAND NEW ZEALANDER BEATEN (United Press Assn. —iner. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, May 21 In the semi-finale of the women's singles Mrs Wills Moody beat Miss Lamb, 6—3, 6—4. In the final of the men’s doubles Lee and Sherwood beat Mayfroy (New Zealand) and Kho Sin Kie, B—6,8 —6, 7—5. The Anal of the mixed doubles went to Olllff and Mrs Nutter, who beat Malfroy and Miss Nuthall, 2—6, 6—4, 12—10. In the final of the women’s doubles Misses Wynne and Coyne defeated Mrs Hopman and Miss Stevenson, 6_4, 4—6, 6—4. Olllff beat Filby In the fTnal of the men’s singles, 2—6, 6—4, 6 —3.
