BIRTHDAY AT 103
MRS BROMELL, OF NELSON (By Telegrapn.—Pre<« Association) NELSON, Saturday Mrs T. A. Bromell, of Seymour Avenue, will celebrate her 103rd. birthday to-morrow. Born at Clifton, Bristol, England, in 1835. Mrs Bromell, formerly Miss Mary Ann Hacker, was married there and in 1867 went out to Melbourne in the ship Lincolnshire. Mr and Mrs Bromell later crossed the Tasman in the steamer Alhambra (one of the two steamers which maintained the mail service between Australia and New Zealand), landing at Nelson in January, 1868. After several years at Havelock they transferred to a farm property at Tadmore in 1876. She has been living in Nelson for the past 25 years.
