NEWS FROM KAIPAKI

_ WELCOME HOME Many neighbours and friends gathered at the home of Mr and Mr 4 C. Bones, to welcome them home after spending their honeymoon in the South. The evening passed happily with games and music for the younger guests, while a flag five hundred drive was arranged. The winners were Mr Bennett. Mr A- E. McDonald. Mrs McCarthy, and Mrs W. Smillie. After supper Mr McDonald proposed the health of the guests-of-honour and musical honours were accorded them. Opportunity was also taken to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs J. Bones, senr., who are leaving Kaipaki to reside in Hamilton. Mr J. Bones and Mr Cecil Bones suitably responded. Ladies’ Guild Meets The annual meeting of the Kaipaki Ladies’ Guild was held in the hall on Wednesday, when there was a fair attendance of members. Mrs A. Goodwin, the president, presided, and after extending a welcome to those present, gave a resume of the year's activities. The secretary and treasurer, Miss W. Tarr, read a very satisfactory balance sheet. A vote of thanks was accorded them for their past work, and each was re-elected. It was decided to hold another combined church social early in August, the final arrangements to be made later.
