OBITUARY
MRS MARTHA LEE WAIKATO NONAGENARIAN The death occurred last evening at her residence. Taw a Street. Melville, of Mrs Martha Lee, aged 94. Mrs Lee yvas born at Ripley, Derbyshire. where she was educated. Before her marriage to Mr Richard Lee she was school teaching. About 60 years ago Mr and Mrs Lee left for New Zealand, settling in Wellington, where Mr Lee was engaged as an engineer's fitter. Later he took up land at Whiteman’s Valley but returned to his trade after some years, leaving Mrs Lee and the family to carry on the work of the farm. The family then moved to Okoroire, where Mr and Mrs Lee were farming for about 15 years. When the property was sold in 1918 Mr and Mrs Lee came to Hamilton. Mr Lee predeceased his wife in 1931 and the surviving members of their family are Messrs F. Lee (Hamilton), Frank Lee Okoroire , A. Lee .Te Kauwhata), Mrs R. Jacombs (Rotorua) and Mrs E. C. Hopkins (Hamilton). There are 33 grandchildren and 50 great-grand-children.
