PRODUCE STOREMEN
FORTY-HOUR WEEK CLAIMED WAGES RATES CONTESTED WELLINGTON. Thursday Conditions of employment for storemen and packers in fruit and produce stores in the Dominion were considered in the Conciliation Council to-day, Mr M. .1. Reardon presiding. The employees sought a 40-hour five-day week with a minimum wage of £5 os for workers over 21. The employers’ proposals included a 4ihour week with a maximum of nine hours a day and a minimum wage of £4 lus for workers over 21.
