Copyright LONDON, May 17 Most of the passengers in the London underground railway accident today. when two crowded trains collided between Charing C.’oss and the Temple stations, were thrown in heaps, and realised tlie seriousness jf the smash on hearing the groans and cries of the injured. Those on the train were afraid to move for fear of trampling on those under the wreckage. The tunnel was plunged into darkness after the crash. There was * blinding Hash, accompanied by an explosion under one carriage half an hour later, and many thought the train had caught fire. Passengers desperately smashed windows and scrambled out on to the track and. covered with blood, staggered to the Charing Cross platform through the black tunnel.
