Tel. copyright COLOMBO, May 18 The former German Minister of War, Field-Marshal von Blomberg, and his wife arrived at Colombo to-day on their way back to Europe after their honeymoon. They posed for photographers. Marshal von Blomberg, who was wearing shorts and tennis shoes, intimated that he is giving up politics and retiring into private life. He spoke enthusiastically of Herr Hitler, whom he described as “ my great friend.” Field-Marshal von Blomberg, whose first wife died in 1932, married his secretary. Fraulein Gruhn, the daughter of a bricklayer, last January. Herr Hitler and Field-Marshal Goering attended the ceremony and the then Minister of War went to Capri for his honeymoon. While he was there a deputation of generals called on the Fuehrer to protest against von Blornberg's failure to conform to the army's matrimonial code. The first stop in the crisis between Herr Ilitlor and the generals which followed was the acceptance of von Blomberg's resignation. While the Marshal was on his honeymoon it was reported that he had been ordered not to return to German v for a year.
