CHAIRMAN RE-ELECTED
CENTRAL POWER BOARD MR T. HINTON’S FINE RECORD A fine record of service was endorsed to-day when. at. the annual meeting of the Central Waikato Electric-Power Board, Mr T. Hinton was re-elected chairman of the board. Mr Hinton has held the chairmanship of the board since its inception in 1920. “During the 18 years that Mr Hinton has been chairman of the board, the business has been transacted very smoothly,*’ said Mr E. F. Peacocke, in
seconding Mr W. C. E. George's motion for the chairman’s re-election. “His experience over that time has equipped him to carry out the board’s business and it is only right that he should continue in the capacity of chairman. The progress of the board over a number of years may, in a large measure, be attributed to his careful management.”
A further tribute to Mr Hinton’s fine record was made by the secretarytreasurer, Mr H. J. Beeche, who stated that during the last 18 years the chairman had missed only one meeting. Other members also eulogised Mr Hinton’s service.
Appreciation of the confidence that had been placed in him was expressed by Mr Hinton, who also congratulated the members who had been returned at. the recent elections. Congratulations were also extended to Mr R. Eyre who had been elected to the Ngarua-wahia-Maeroa seat, in place of Mr S. S. Saulbrey. During the I*2 years that he had been on the board Mr Saulbrey had given good service and a letter of appreciation should he forwarded to him. It was interesting to note that he was the first member of the board to have lost his seat by election.
