HAMILTON’S PROGRESS
AMENITIES NOT KEPT PAOB EXTENSIVE WORKS NEED MONEY “Hamilton has grown with tremendous speed, but unfortunately the provision of necessary amenities has not kept pace with that growth,” said Mr H. D. Caro, the Mayor-elect of Hamilton, when replying to congratulations upon his election to the Mayoralty, which were offered by Mr A. G. Ward on behalf of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce at a meeting of the chamber last evening. “It will not be an easy task, especially if I want the town to progress fairly rapidly,” continued Mr Caro. “There is a great deal of work to be done, but there will be a considerable amount of money required. Unless the council decides to increase the rates It will not be easy to find that money. “There is no town in New Zealand,” concluded Mr Caro, “ which has progressed as rapidly as Hamilton, anJ the lack of amenities is a problem which will have to be faced.”
