SECOND WRESTLING BOUT

BAFFERT IN HAMILTON AGAIN THURSDAYS MATCH WITH MEEHAN The enthusiasm which was aroused by the first wrestling match in Hamilton this season between “Lofty” Blomfield and A 1 Baffert will be enhanced by the next bout which Is to be staged in the Theatre Royal on Thursday. The contestants will be Baffert, who has been recalled because of the popularity he has already won with local followers of the sport, and Pat Meehan, the tall and powerful ex-Royal North-West Canadian Mounted Police. It was freely recognised that Baffert gave Blomfleld as hard a match as the latter could desire and It is well on the cards that he would be able to reverse the decision In a return bout. Meehan, besides being one of the best-looking wrestlers ever to visit New Zealand, has an enviable record. Having been Introduced to the mat sport while at school he had further experience of it while keeping fit with his fellow-policemen and he progressed so well that he won the Canadian heavy-weight amateur championship two years running. He then threw in his lot with the professionals and, since then, has had well over 200 matches. He has drawn with Vincent Lopez and has beaten men like Tommy Marvin, Gino Garibaldi, Leo Numa Anderson, Rudy Dusek. Freddie Meyer, and Stanley Pinto, winuer of the New Zealand championship in 1931.

About. 6ft 3in in height and weighing nearly 16 stone, Meehan is-a fine figure of a man and when he goes into the ring he takes with him strength, speed, science, and shrewd mat-craft. He has a variety of effective holds to call upon, some of which are highly spectacular in their application. He believes in setting a from start to finish and ho will ‘present Baffert with a real problem.

BLOMFIELD DEFEATED (Special to Timos.) AUCKLAND. Tuesday By gaining the decision through his opponent, "Lofty” Blomfield. being disqualified. Andy Moen, the American wrestler, maintained his unbeaten record in the Dominion to date in a bout in the Town Hall last evening.
