COAL BUNKER BURNING NOT SERIOUS OUTBREAK (By Teb‘RT<v>h.— prpss Association) CHRISTCHURCH. Monday The Shaw Savill and Albion Company’s liner Mahia arrived in Lyttelton on Saturday with a bunker on lire. On arrival from Dunedin it wa« discovered that the coal bunker was hot. All hands that could be employed on the job were engaged in removing coal in an endeavour to get at the seat of the Are. Sixty tons of coal were discharged into trucks by cranes during Saturday evening and Sunday morning. This morning Captain Thompson said the fire was not serious but every effort had to be taken to prevent its spreading. The vessel Is engaged in loading for the United Kingdom and is expected to leave for Wellington tomorrow.
