Mr H. W. E. Prior, of England, Is at the Hamilton Hotel. Professor J. A. Bartrum, of Auckland, was in Hamilton to-day. Mr F. W. Doidge, of Tauranga, was in Hamilton during the week-end. Mr R. H. Ward has been appointed coroner at Taupo in place of the Rev. J. G. Laughton, who has resigned. Mr B. M. Laird, of the staff of the' Piopio Consolidated School, has been transferred to Kauroa, near Raglan. Mr J. W. Bailey, of Auckland, has again been appointed elocution judge at the annual Dunedin competitions festival. Mr A. J. Hargreaves, of Claudelands, who has been on an extended visit to Australia, returned home today. Mr L. G. Dawes, who has been stationed at Te Awamutu as traffic inspector, has been transferred to the Bay of Islands. Major-General J. E. Duigan, Chief of the General Staff of the New Zealand Defence Forces, has had his appointment extended to March 31, 1939. Messrs G. H. Williams, W. Maloney (New Plymouth), A. Pepper, J. O. Pepper (Auckland), A. McKnight, E. Ball (Wellington), and S. 11. Edwards (Whangarei) are at the Hamilton Hotel. At St. Andrew’s Church, Hamilton, yesterday, the Rev. H. G. Gilbert referred to the death of the Rev. E. J. Adams, a former Minister of the Church, which occurred at Oamaru and paid tribute to the great work he had done for the church during his eight years’ ministry. Dr. E. H. Williams, senior honorary physician to the Trubv King Harris Hospital, Dunedin, has been appointed medical adviser to the council of the Plunket Society in a temporary and part-time capacity, pending the appointment of a successor to Dr. B. M. Tweed, who recently resigned from the office of full-time medical adviser.
