The Adventures of Johnny and Joan.
DEAR EVERYONE, Have you ever gone picricking and then found that you can’t open your lovely bottle of ginger p p? Well, our young adventurers were in this plight the other day when they went picnicking in the woods, but Johnny had a very brilliant idea when he saw a raven fly overhead. Fixing the bottle of pop in the ground he nailed a nice tempting biscuit to the cork—and then piled leaves all round it until only the biscuit showed. “I cannot see how that will pull the cork out,” moaned Bone who was simply parched with thirst (of course little puppies are always very thirsty when there are drinks they like around). But presently up came Raymond Raven, ‘‘Ah! What is this I spy here,” he croaked. Now Raymond loved biscuits and as soon as he saw It was his favourite tit-bit he made a grab at It with his powerful beak. Of course the biscuit was fastened to the cork, but Raymond didn’t know this. “Umph, it seems to be stuck,” he croaked as he pulled harder and harder. Then Pop!! went the cork and Johnny and Joan and the mlschevlous pets ran out from behind the tall tree where they were hiding. ‘‘Thank you for opening our pop Mister Raven,” they cried. '-Do come and share our lunch.” Of course Raymond was delighted as he had as many nice biscuits as he liked. It was a splendid Idea of Johnny's, wasn’t It? ’ J PETER PAN
