farewell evening A number of friends assembled recentlv at the home of Mr and Mrs F. Finlev, Pukerimu, to bid farewell to the Rev. and Mrs Lloyd Francis, who are returning to the Melanesian mission field after a year’s leave, which has been spent in Cambridge, where Mr Francis has given valuable assistance in church work to the vicar, the Rev. C. W. Chandler. A pleasant evening was spent, during which Mr Finley asked the guests-of-the-evening to accept a gift of a picnic outfit in a leather case. Musical honours were accorded them, and Mr Francis suitably replied. Supper was then served. Competitions were won by Mrs Francis and Miss V. Wallis. "Among those' present were:—Mesdames C. W- Chandler, Francis, sen., F. Finley, A. Goodwin, Todd, J. Searle. H. Goodwin, A. M. Fisher, Wallis. Misses J. Johnson, J. Finley, L. Finley, V, Wallis, N. Fisher. CARD EVENING At the weekly card evening held in t’ne hall, the prizes for the five hundred tournament were won by Miss K. Fisher and Mr R. Speake. The ping-pong prizes were won by Miss V. Christiansen and Mr Sage.
