SWING MUSIC
DECIBION OF ADELAIDE CLUB GHANGE OVER FROM CLASSICS After being wedded to the classics since its formation, the Corinthian Ciub, an Adelaide musical body, has decided to “swing it.” Said Director John Dempster: “The musical fraternity has long gushed over The Blue Danube’ and oilier examples of the Viennese waltz, but in texture and general interest those compositions are puerile compared with the best examples of modern swing music. “At the most there are not more than 500 people in Adelaide who are wholeheartedly devoted to reflective music.' Used as Pick-me-up “But there are thousands who use modern dance music as a stimulus and pick-cne-up. **\Ve hope the younger set will meet us and listen at our soirees to music of other moods, as well as those compositions which they love.” The Corinthian Club hopes thus to reconcile the musical leanings of young people with the more traditional forms of musical expression.
