TE RAPA GALLOPS THIS MORNING’S WORK WHIRLING HITS OUT (By “Martian”) The flags were 72ft. out from the rails at Te Rapa this morning when a number of horses with engagements at the approaching meeting of the Waikato Racing Club were sent along. The going was in good order for this time of the year and several interesting trials were witnessed, the best of the morning being that of Whirling over five furlongs. Prince Rangi • F. Hain) was doing better than Master Brierly (j. Winder) at the completion of a round in 2.9. Lornacre (H. Long) and Sinking Fund (W. Thomson; finished on terms at the completion of five furlongs in 1.7. Both were doing their work well at the end. Sing Lee (Bootsma) and Te Poura (F. Hain) were associated over five furlongs which they negotiated in 1.8 J. Light Comedy Over Seven Light Comedy A. Anderson) was doing better than Malagigi (R. lb Uzanne.) over the deciding stages of seven lurlongs, the last live of which they ran in l.iOj. Both are in good order for racing at the fixture. Kilberis W. Thomson) and Yalpai (J. Winder) hit out together over seven furlongs in 1.38 4-5, their linal six furlongs in 1.24 1-5. Salesman Telford , Mia Fratollo (Ensor , Abbey Lass iJ. Winder, and Marnui were associated over six furlongs, which they cut out in 1.21, a useful effort for horses of their class. Tosh \V. Thomson, was doing better than Prince Acre (J. that of Whirling (W. Thomson), who accounted for Solomon 'Bootsma) over the deciding stages of five furlongs in 1.6 1-5. Whirling was at home in the conditions and lie will strip in splendid heart for racing at the local gathering.
