GAMING CHARGES
BEQUEL TO A POLICE RAID TAIHAPE QUARTET REMANDED (By Telegraph.—Prp=« Association) TAIHAPE, Friday Following a police raid conducted by Detective J. Murray (Wanganui) and members of the Taihape and Mangaweka force. Alan Harcourt Smith and Norman Phillip Sisson were each charged In the Taihape Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon with carrying on the business of a bookmaker, while John Joseph Ryan faced a charge of keeping a common gaming house at Taihape, and Thomas Lucas was charged with assisting in conducting the business of a common gaminghouse.
On the application of the police each defendant was remanded to appear before a magistrate on June 2. Bail was allowed each defendant on his own surety for £SO.
