Oyster Supplies. —Recent fears tha* the supply of oysters fr6m the Foveaux Strait beds is rapidly diminishing can be allayed. Foveaux ?trait. which contains the largest natural oyster beds in the world, holds supplies calculated on a very conservative basis to last more then three centuries at the present rate of consumption. Sixty million oysters, which were sent to all parts of New Zealand, and a small percentage overseas, were taken from the strait last season.
