HEATED SPEECH

POLL AT NGARUAWAHIA (Special to Times) NGARUAWAHIA, Thursday A sensation was created at Ngaruawahia last night when the newlyelected Mayor, Mr R. Eyre, addressing the electors after the declaration of the poll, severely criticised the manner in which the polling had been conducted, and alleged that it had cost him (Mr Eyre) hundreds of votes because peeople got tired of waiting and went home. He then criticised some of his opponents, alleging that they had tried to prevent his voters from getting to the poll. In returning thanks to those wao voted tor him, the defeated candidate, Mr R. P. Knight, said he was incapable of making a speech such as the one they had just heard.
