SUCCESSFUL EVENING

TE MATA ANGLICAN CHURCH A success-ful evening in aid of Anglican Church funds was orgmised recently by Mr and Mrs J. P. Porter, assisted by Mr R. Anderson, and held •in the Te Mata Hall. The proceedings opened with the National Anthem, after which Mr Anderson gave an exhibition of moving pictures, comprising views of people and scenes in Te Mata and Waingaro. The views were taken by Mr Anderson and Mr J. P. Porter, «md were enjoyed by the audience, many of them seeing themselves on the screen. Mr Anderson also gave a line exhibition of Indianclub swinging, with coloured electric bulbs, and the hall darkened. Supper followed, and dancing and cards were enjoyed. Mr Frank Vernon was M.C. for the dancing, the music being supplied by Mrs J. P. Porter and Mr J. Munns, and by an electric gramophoneCompetitions were held during the evening, the winners being Mrs W. N. S. Jerome, and Messrs W. G. Vernon and H. Reading. Winners at five hundred were Mrs R. J. Nicholson and Mr G. Stephenson, the consolation prizes being won by Mrs E. Roberts and Mr Cussen. A novelty dance was won by Mr and Mrs Gordon Phillips. During the evening the *Rev. Oxenbridge thanked the guests for their assistance. The church funds will benefit considerably.
