NGAHINAPOURI NEWS

KITCHEN EVENING BRIDE-TO-BE HONOURED An enjoyable function was held in the Ngahinapouri Hall recently on the occasion of a kitchen evening held in honour of Miss Elva Rye and Mr Hugh Ryburn. The hall had been charmingly arranged with bowls of autumn flowers and greenery, and a happy time was spent dancing to music by Mrs Wiley (Ohaupo). During the evening, Mr R. Thomas expressed the good wishes of those present and asked the guests-of-hon-our to accept the many gift parcels. On behalf of the Tennis Club, of which Miss Rye and Mr Ryburn have been prominent members, Mr C. Reid presented them with a beautiful crystal salad bowl. Mr Ryburn suitably replied. A delicious supper was served. Miss Rye was wearing apple green lace and net with a green and silver coatee. Among those present were:—Mesdames A. Rye, F. Williams (Hamilton), R. Thomas, W. D. v Tudehope, Mona McDonald, J. Allen, D. Garrett. SOCIAL CLUB OPENING The opening of the Young People's Social Club was held recently. There was a fairly large attendance, and a pleasant evening was spent. A short play. ''George Proposes." was read by Misses .1. Bain and M. Marcroft and Mr .1. Britton 1 . Ping-pong was played, and supper brought the evening to a close.
