FUTURE OF DEMOCRACIES A WARNING BY CHILE (United Press Assn.—-Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received May 12. 11.45 a.m.) GENEVA, May 11 Senor Delvayo asked the League of Nations to conduct an inquiry into intervention in Spain through an international commission, having power to go anywhere. He predicted that other democracies would soon suffer the same fate as Spain. The Chilean delegate informed the Council that Chile might be obliged to leave the League unless Article XVI was dropped.

Jordan (New Zealand) presented the report of the Health Committee, drawing attention to the League’s work in connection with the anti-epidemic campaign in China, and pointed out its importance for the Powers having Far Eastern %iterests. It was announced that the Netherlands and Dutch East Indies Governments liad opened credits, and a Bill is before tbe French Chamber to help the work. It is hoped that other Governments will act similarly as the resources are limited. Dr. Wellington Koo, in thanking the League, said that the antl-epidemio mobile units are carrying on their work under dangerous conditions owing to Japanese air raids.
