FIRST FROST

THREE DEGREEB IN HAMILTON LOW MEAN TEMPERATURE The first frost of the year was experienced in Hamilton this morning when three degrees' were recorded at the Whitiora station. In other parts of the Waikato the frost was noticeably more severe and 5.4 degrees were registered at the Ruakura Farm of Instruction. Temperatures throughout yesterday and last evening were the coldest experienced this year, as the low mean recording of 48.5 degrees yesterday will indicate. Lawns in the borough were white with frost until about 8 this morning. While the first frost is usually far from welcomed by farmers, this autumn circumstances have been altered materially by the facial eczema epidemic and farmers will be more pleased than otherwise to see the fTrst frnsts appearing. The belief is commonly held that the disease will largely disappear With Hie first frosts.
