BRIDE-TO-BE HONOURED

FUNCTfONS AT WAITOA SEVERAL PRESENTATIONS MADE A pleasant function took place in the Waitoa Methodist Church schoolroom recently, . hen the superintendent, Mr P. C. McNeill, made a presentation of a beautiful crystal set and serviette rings, a gif.t from the Sunday school children and teachers, to Miss Muriel Luxton, who Is shortly to be married and who will be leaving the district. Mr McNeill remarked on Miss Luxton’s good work for the Sunday school, of which she had been a teacher for many years. He expressed regret at her departure. Mis-s Luxton suitably replied. Miss Luxton was also the recipient of a gift from the congregation of the church. The Rex-. A. W. Mayson, in making the presentation of a silver teapot, wished her happiness and prosperity. SURPRISE EVENING The members of the Tatuanui Tennis Club paid a surprise visit to the home of Miss Luxton. , A happy time was spent with games, songs, and competitions. During the evening the president of the club presented Miss Luxton with a set of plaques on behalf of the members. Mr Wratt expressed regret at losing such a valued member.

GIFT EVENING

About 250 residents and friends gathered in the Waitoa Hall recently to honour Miss Luxton. A delightful evening was enjoyed, the time being spent In dancing interspersed with items given by friends of the guest-of-honour. After supper the guest of the evening was asked to accept the many beautiful and useful gifts as a token of the esteem in which she was held in the district. Mr Gordon Bowden, on behalf of his fiancee, suitably responded, after which musical honours were accorded them. Mr J. Lynch, on behalf of the Waitoa residents, spoke of the qualities of Miss Luxton and wished her happiness. Dancing was continued, Mr 11. llollier being M.C.
